This is a really cool piece of horological history. The E501 was one of the first watches made in the 50's that specifically said "no more winding, it keeps time automatically." A big claim by JLC at the time (and a little misleading to suggest it was the first automatic watch) but the movement was innovative enough and different looking enough to warrant a lot of attention. Plus it looks cool.

Condition: Vintage. Watch movement works and ticks but the power reserve does not measure remainingn hours. Dial looks good for its age in comparisson to others we've seen. Case back crown still has period correct text printed on. Outer edegs of the caseback has some tool marks.
